The central character of the
play is Harry, a school dropout with unmet potential, who finds
himself depressed and rejected when his attempts at street busking
fail. He is lying in his However, each money making scheme, such as labouring, earning interest, making a profit and so on, requires time, and the aliens tell Harry, they need money NOW, for in 5 days they will expire. The only way to spend money without first making it, Harry realises, is through the use of credit, and he undertakes to use his credit card to make the journey to find the Berkelium. Harry, however, mismanages the challenge, being seduced into purchasing unneeded computer games, mobile phones, fashionable garments and accessories, and he falls into the pit of despair and hopelessness. The aliens, at risk to their own lives, use their superior cultural knowledge to help him recover emotionally and financially and guide him through the "seven sensational steps to success". The story of Harry and his friends is told through a wide variety of theatrical techniques, including circus, comedy, music, commedia, melodrama and pathos. It has a tense and engaging storyline and the audience, it is anticipated, will discover that understanding and managing money can be an exciting process, closely tied to their emotional and physical wellbeing. |
